Have Energy, Will Travel
Energy work was and is a big part of my emotional healing and now I practice it on others. The imprints left by emotional abuse from school bullies, society’s bigotry towards people of size, and my own pulsating self-hatred eroded my self-esteem and left deep but invisible wounds. Where does all the hate and vitriol go when it’s directed at someone? Much of it goes seeping into the body, literally, clinging to cells and tissues as memory trauma. For me it all started with Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life” in the late 80’s and fanned out from there. I got willing to dig deep and tried all methods that appealed to me: Reiki, deep-tissue massage, past-life regression, toning, dowsing, the Oneness Blessing, and Inner Beauty Treatment. It was a gradual healing process that took years. That was my passage. I didn’t abandon it even as the weight continued to pile on. While working with an outstanding energy worker from Northern California off and on for two years, I confessed to being both bewildered and exasperated: all the inner work I was doing and the numbers on the scale kept moving up…not down. She calmly replied that the weight is usually the last thing to go; it’s the emotional and energetic debris that needs to be cleared away first. Not the easiest thing to do when you live in a culture where dieting promises are thrust at you in every possible form of media. A healthy way of eating has its place and so does movement, but becoming a fitness buff was not going to untangle the mess that throbbed at my core.
Energy healing modalities I practice include Reiki I and II, The Oneness Blessing, and Inner Beauty Aura Detox Therapy. E-mail me at

Cook with Joy, Will Travel
Yes, the rumors are true: I’ve fired 179 pounds and have not been miserable doing it. I still love food…that’s not going anywhere. I’ve simply learned what has served me well and what isn’t doing me any favors in terms of food choices and ingredients. I’m not celiac, but in general, I don’t eat gluten, wheat, or cow dairy products. Stop cringing, I promise this is a much more pleasant ride that it sounds. Ever had my spaghetti and meatballs? Don’t make any judgments until you’ve savored them for yourself. I travel and teach individuals and families how to cook and prepare entrees, snacks, appetizers, and desserts that actually taste good and will enhance not diminish your body’s natural ability to thrive and be healthy. I work with your personal tastes, preferences, and dislikes…all while keeping it clean. E-mail me at
